Crackdown Wiki

The “Freak Watcher” is a character in Crackdown 2 featured in the game’s various audio logs. He was a scientist who meticulously observes and documents the evolution of the Freak species in Pacific City, whom the Voice of the Agency describes him as either: Incredibly brave, or completely crazy.

Info[]

Throughout the logs, the Freak Watcher chronicles various stages of Freak evolution, from basic lifeforms to more advanced ones like Screamers and Pounders. His observations provide valuable insights into the Freaks, helping players to better understand the threats.

The early logs capture the Freak Watcher’s initial curiosity and scientific interest in the Freaks. He meticulously documents their behaviour, physiology, and the effects of the virus that created them. As the logs progress, the Freak Watcher delves deeper into the different types of Freaks, such as: Reapers, and Goliaths. He notes their unique characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses, providing valuable insights for players. The logs also reveal the Scientists personal thoughts and feelings. He often reflects on the moral and ethical implications of his work, and his growing obsession with the Freaks become progressively evident. In the later logs, the Freak Watcher’s mental state begins to deteriorate. His obsession with the Freaks lead him to take increasingly dangerous risks, ultimately resulting in his demise.

Death[]

In his final log, the Freak Watcher completely loses his sanity and attempts to communicate with a group of Freaks, believing it still has remnants of human emotions from it's once previous self. This encounter ultimately leads to his death, as the Freaks begin to slowly tear him apart.
