Viktor “Curse” Rabotnikov is the most disturbing type of criminal: a man who kills, not just for business, but for pleasure. Rabotnikov sees himself as a predator, and the good people of Pacific City, his prey. His twisted worldview has even estranged him from his Volk comrades, who know all too well that his compulsive bloodlust knows no allegiance or moral boundaries. Such misgivings might also explain why he was chosen to man a secluded base; its distance insulates the rest of the Volk from Rabotnikov and provides his heavily armored “Shishka” units with a safe haven in which they may pursue their perverse indulgences. The tattoo of barbed wire around his head resembles a crown of thorns, indicating that Rabotnikov considers himself to be something of a martyr. So don’t be rude, Agent: give him the martyrdom he’s looking for.

A MINE IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE

Rabotnikov’s base of operations is an abandoned armory located off the southeastern coast of the Den. Due to its dilapidated state, the armory is only accessible by foot or by sea, two paths that come with their own tactical complications. The Volk sharpshooters patrolling the rocks around the compound might look bad until you see the mines floating around the armory’s perimeter. Originally designed to bring down warships, the mines pack more than enough punch to blow holes in careless Agents. The armory serves as the hub of Rabotnikov’s weapons trafficking operation and many of the guns and explosives that eventually find their way onto Den’s streets pass first through this coastal checkpoint. Shutting down Rabotnikov’s operation will greatly weaken the Volk’s firepower.

ARMORY ASSAULT

Attacking the armory head-on is much like running a medieval gauntlet: you’ll have to move fast and avoid environmental obstacles to succeed. Begin by running up the main path between the rocks, stopping short at the two flatbeds blocking the path. This is a good place to fire a rocket and announce your arrival with a bang. Up ahead the path splits in two; the broken bridge has fewer guards but is harder to negotiate, especially for Agents with lower agility.

Regardless of which path you choose, your first priority should be silencing the gunners stationed along the rocks and catwalks, or else they will pick you to pieces with their machine guns and rocket launchers. Fortunately, many of these sharpshooters have a nasty habit of standing in the vicinity of flammable oil drums, which makes their elimination an explosive affair. You’ll find Rabotnikov hiding along the back corridor at the ocean’s edge. Fire away and make sure that tonight he sleeps with the fishes—literally.

TWO IF BY SEA

If all this running and ducking sounds exhausting, there’s a less laborious way of dispatching Rabotnikov, one that might only require you to fire shots at the boss himself. Since Rabotnikov’s compound is surrounded by water, it’s highly vulnerable to an attack by sea. I hope you brought your water wings, Agent—you’re going to need them. Begin by running along the shallow water to the right of the main entrance. Continue past the side entrance (which is heavily guarded by Rabotnikov’s forces) and swim around to the rear of the complex. Rabotnikov will be pacing around the back corridor, so find his marker on the HUD, jump up to his location, and put a bullet (or a rocket or grenade) through his tattooed skull before he knows what hit him.

Good luck, Agent. Teach Rabotnikov the only "curse" worth fearing is the wrath of the Agency.
